Health Study showed that premenopausal women with the highest calcium consumption faced a 20 percent less risk of breast cancer than those with the lowest consumption. The greatest consumers of low-fat dairy foods had a 30 percent lower risk than those eating the fewest. "
MSNBC - Diabetes now kills more people than AIDS: "Some 3.2 million people died in 2000 of ailments brought on by diabetes such as cardiovascular disease and kidney failure. 2000 is the latest year for which figures were available.

'Problem is largely unrecognized'

The burden of premature death from diabetes is similar to that of HIV/AIDS, yet the problem is largely unrecognized,? the two organizations said in a statement. AIDS killed three million people in 2000."
MSNBC - Sugary soft drinks may raise risk of diabetes: "Researchers found that women drinking one or more sugar-sweetened soft drinks a day were twice as likely to develop diabetes as women who drank fewer than one a month. Even when they considered such factors as weight, diet and lifestyle differences, the researchers still found that women drinking sugary sodas were 1.3 times as likely to develop diabetes."
