Monsanto Corporation: A Biotech Company Responsible for Roundup Ready Soybeans: "Monsanto's Government Ties
A Monsanto official told the New York Times that the corporation should not have to take responsibility for the safety of its food products. 'Monsanto should not have to vouchsafe the safety of biotech food,' said Phil Angell, Monsanto's director of corporate communications. 'Our interest is in selling as much of it as possible. Assuring its safety is the FDA's job.'
It would be nice to think the FDA can be trusted with these matters, but think again. Monsanto has succeeded in insuring that government regulatory agencies let Monsanto do as it wishes.

Prior to being the Supreme Court Judge who put GW Bush in office,Clarence Thomas was Monsanto's lawyer.
The U.S. Secretary of Agriculture (Anne Veneman) was on the Board of Directors of Monsanto's Calgene Corporation.
The Secretary of Defense (Donald Rumsfeld) was on the Board of Directors of Monsanto's Searle pharmaceuticals.
The U.S. Secretary of Health, Tommy Thompson, received $50,000 in donations from Monsanto during his winning campaign for Wisconsin's governor.

Margaret Miller, one of Monsanto's researchers put the report together. Shortly before the report submission, Miller left Monsanto and was hired by the FDA. Fake Microsoft Patch Triggers Virus Attack: "In what has become a monthly staple, virus writers are taking advantage of the heightened public interest around Microsoft's patching cycle to trick users into executing a malicious attachment.
The latest social engineering trick arrives via e-mail with an attachment that purports to be a 'cumulative patch' for May 2005.
The claim is that the executable file contains patches for vulnerabilities in Internet Explorer, Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express, three widely used products with a history of serious security bugs.
The file is actually an executable for a variant of W32.Pinfi, a memory-resident polymorphic virus capable of replicated via mapped drives and network shares."

Consumer Warning: Processed Meats Cause Cancer: "Processed meat consumption results in 6700% increase in pancreatic cancer risk, says new research
Consuming processed meats increases the risk of pancreatic cancer, says new research conducted at the University of Hawaii that followed nearly 200,000 men and women for seven years. According to lead study author Ute Nothlings, people who consumed the most processed meats (hot dogs and sausage) showed a 6700% increased risk of pancreatic cancer over those who consumed little or no meat products.
But researchers failed to accurately identify the culprit responsible for this increased risk of pancreatic cancer, says one author. The true cause of the heightened cancer risk is the widespread use of a carcinogenic precursor ingredient known as sodium nitrite by food processing companies, says nutritionist Mike Adams, author of the just-published Grocery Warning manual.
Nearly all processed meats are made with sodium nitrite: breakfast sausage, hot dogs, jerkies, bacon, lunch meat, and even meats in canned soup products. Yet this ingredient is a precursor to highly carcinogenic nitrosamines -- potent cancer-causing chemicals that accelerate the formation and growth of cancer cells throughout the body. When consumers eat sodium nitrite in popular meat products, nitrosamines are formed in the body where they promote the growth of various cancers, including colorectal cancer and pancreatic cancer, says Adams.
'Sodium nitrite is a dangerous, cancer-causing ingredient that has no place in the human food supply,' he explains. The USDA actually tried to ban sodium nitrite in the 1970's, but was preempted by the meat processing industry, which relies on the ingredient as a color fixer to make foods look more visually appealing. Included are such issues as using fishmeal as feed additives, inerts in pesticide formulations, origin of livestock, antibiotics, and the scope of NOP. The drive-in restaurants - with parents permission - feed them fat and junk that in turn puts pounds on them, kills their immune system so that they are one constant infection waiting to take hold. Moms are simply tired from a hard days work away from home, that it's easier to drive through than it is to go home and put a good diet on the table? Hence insufficient minerals and vitamins to promote growth and health.
Secondly Play Station and computers have them in front of the screens playing games, when they are home, and the only thing moving is the hands and eyes. While the TV programs are making vegetables from their brains because they do not have to use the brain, hence the TV nickname BoobTube, creating real mental disability.
Third children are fed diets of high carbohydrates, which in turn become sugar in their system overloading the pancreas. They also ingest so much sugar that another burden is placed on the pancreas. With both causing extreme obesity in more than 60% of children. So with the sugar choking it and the fat choking it is it any wonder the pancreas stops working and can't handle the load put on it.
Yes I am fully aware the medical profession says ingesting sugar does not cause diabetes. Well grandma was right and these guys are so off base. It has been proven that the pancreas overloaded with sugar and trying to cope with the insulin required that it will break down soon!
Treating diabetes flawed as well!

DIABETES, OBESITY & CHILDREN... WHAT DO THEY HAVE IN COMMON? by Lena Sanchez: "Once upon a time, sounds like a fairy tale and it is anything but, diabetes was a rare disorder in children. That is no longer the case. Diabetes is rampant in our children and grandchildren. What is being done to remedy this situation?
